Trails and Sails at First Church!

Trails and Sails at First Church!
Sept 16-18 and Sept 23-25

Tour Guides Needed! To sign up email bonnie@historysmiths.com

Trails & Sails Weekend is right around the corner, and that means we need tour guides! If you've done it before, terrific! If you haven't, please join us! Church Member Bonnie Hurd Smith will be organizing the tours. Please contact her if you would like to be a part of it! bonnie@historysmiths.com

At First Church tours on What’s Behind Those English Gothic Walls? will be available! See stained glass windows by Tiffany and LaFarge, the “Hawthorne Pew,” named for Nathaniel Hawthorne, magnificent Victorian décor, furnishings, works of art, rare books, and centuries-old documents. Learn how Puritan First Church, founded in 1629, evolved into a community of mavericks, mystics, and mariners. Hear the stories of some of our members including Witch Trial victims Rebecca Nurse; Giles Cory; and Rev. Thomas Barnard, who convinced the British to leave Salem in 1775. So much of the history of Salem is reflected and on display within the walls of the First Church and its grounds.
