2025 Budget Update:

As previously announced, your Standing Committee and Treasurer are modifying the budget process to enhance visibility to members and to request approval by congregational vote at the Annual Meeting.  We have taken steps to move the process forward with the intention of presenting a proposed budget this Sunday.

However, while we will share a preliminary (draft) budget with members at the meeting on Sunday, we will not ask for congregational approval at this time.  As it stands, the draft budget projects a large deficit that we simply cannot ask the congregation to approve.  There are several discussions going on currently among the Standing, Finance, and Stewardship Committees, along with the Trustees and Treasurer, as to how to close this gap.  Our plan is to share possible solutions with the congregation, but we simply have not had time to process these.

It is our hope that sharing the current draft budget will set the stage for a set of open conversations on income and spending that will lead us to consensus on the budget for the 2025 fiscal year, as well as sustainable plans for subsequent years.  We therefore ask for your patience, and for your input and questions.  We plan to use July and August to identify the options, then share them in early September (via e-mail, zoom, and in-person sessions) leading to a Special Meeting in late September for the purpose of passing the budget.

Please review the draft budget that will be shared at the Annual Meeting on Sunday and share your questions and suggestions with Treasurer Marlene, Standing Committee Chair Steve, or any member of the Standing Committee.
