FIRST CHURCH SEEKS:

Senior High Youth Advisor

Position Description: Develop, coordinate and guide senior high youth group which meets on Sunday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

Qualifications: Must be at least 25 years old, a good facilitator of youth leadership, energetic, fun, self-directed and organized. Must enjoy and relate well with youth while demonstrating maturity and maintaining appropriate boundaries. Preference will be given to persons with experience working with youth, and to Unitarian Universalists.

Compensation: $270 per month, $400 professional expenses yearly.

Time Requirement: Each Sunday night 7:00 to 8:30 plus prep time, September through June. Special events as necessary. Two hours per month for meeting with Director. of Religious Education/Minister. Position begins August 28, 2010, if possible.

Job Description:

  • Be a consistent presence and nurture growth and transformation in the lives of our youth.
  • Lead senior high youth group with assistance from church staff and volunteers.
  • Help plan social events and social action projects.
  • Help youth become a visible presence in the church.
  • Assist with the recruitment of volunteers.
  • Communicate with youth, their parents, and congregation through newsletter, phone calls and social networking media.
  • Attend UUA basic youth advisor training.
  • References, CORI and credit check will be required.
