July at The First Church

Summer Schedule - The First Church will be closed for services during the month of July. Services will be held at our sister church, The First Universalist Church, on Sundays in July, at 10:00 a.m., at 211 Bridge Street, Salem. For further information on services at The First Universalist Society in July, call 978.744.3224.

August Services at The First Church

Services resume at The First Church on Founder's Day Sunday, which is Sunday, August 6, 2006. Further information on all August services can be found below. Please feel free to cotnact the chruch office with any questions you might have by clicking here. All Summer services begin at 10:00 a.m.

August Calendar

August 6 - Annual Founder's Day Sunday
with Reverend Jeffrey Barz-Snell
Join us for our annual Founder's Day Sunday, this year celebrating the 377nd anniversary of the founding of the First Church in Salem. Sermon: "Passing Down and Reaching Out."

August 13 - The Reverend Thomas Wintle
Tom has preached here before and participated in the ordination of Jeff Barz-Snell here at the church in 1998. He is has been the Minister of the First Parish Church in Weston since 1995 and served as the Editor of the UU Christian Fellowship's journal for many years.

August 20 - Mrs. Jane Korins
Jane is the Director of Pastoral Care at the Northshore Medical Center here in Salem. She has preached here before and always brings to the pulpit a wonderful insight and vitality.

August 27 - Reverend Joe Bassett
Joe has been the Minister of the First Church in Chestnut Hill for many years and is a gifted biblical scholar, writer and contemporary social critic. He has preached here at the First Church several times over the years and people always enjoy his wit and observations.

September 3 - Labor Day Sunday-
To be announced

September 10 - Homecoming Sunday
Our regular church season begins with Jeff Barz-Snell preaching.

Choir

The First Church Choir will be singing again in September.

Summer Office Hours

Beginning this week, the hours the office will be open are 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m., Tuesday through Fridays. Email will be checked on a regular basis, at firstchurch@nii.net. Regular hours will resume in September. Have a great summer!
